East Carpathia - Hutsulshina In
the Central Europe you can find the wildest mountains in
Europe. Deep green spruce forests, high mountains picks, top meedows with
aromatical flowers and grasses, alpine lakes and rivers there are elements of the East
Carpathian natural world. There is difficult to see people on the some mountains routes. However, If you met someone, he would be rather a
shepherd, than tourist. In
the East Carpathia there is a nature, which
is still not changed by people. The tourists infrastructure is not large,
accomodation most mountain routers and the like still need to be developed. Maybe it is not very comfortable for visitors, but on the other hand it gives you a chance to see a pure
nature. You can go for mountain trip with tent or sleep in „koliba” – shepherds
home, you can also stay in small family pension in the village, and arrange one day tour.
Here is possible to travel using different
type of routers from easy to difficult. Most of the Carpathian peaks are lower than 2000
m, only Chornohora range has six peaks which are higher. If you want to enjoy your holiday in more comfortable conditions, you
can go to Yaremche, the nice small town which is called Carpathian Pearl or Bukovel –
the modern tourist resort, there are a lot of hotels, restaurants and pubs. Through
the centuries a variety of nations intermingled together such as Ukrainians, Romanians,
Hungarians, Gypsy, Tatars, Poles and the like, forming unique and original ethnic group of
Hucules. These proud and independent people
created own
extraordinary world based on
the ancient tradition full of magic and unusual customs.
The
East Carpathia was discovered as a rest and health resort in 18th century, when Polish
nobles arrived to Burkut and some other villages to hot springs. In the late 19-centry
(when East Carpathia belonged to Austro-Hungaria), and especially in the
twenties and thirties (20th
century), when this region was a part of Poland, the large tourist infrastructure was
built such as: sanatoriums , pensions, mountain hostels
as well as the mountains routes were markedd . In the Soviet period the whole
infrastructure was completly devastated. At that time the foreign tourists were prohibited
from visiting the East Carpathia. When
Ukraine gained independency, tourist industry ones again
has been developed. Huculschina
is waiting for visitors with its beautifully
landscapes, nature, unique wooden architecture, historical monuments and friendly,
hospitable people.
Hucultschina – the centre of the East Carpathia is situated in the South – West Ukraina. There are only about 200 km from Polish border and 100 - 200 km from Slovakia and Hungary on the South. |
